Howdy!I'm a musician and instructor with a relatively eclectic background, which, I hope, colors my expressiveness and pedagogy in interesting ways. I'm originally from Idaho, where I received a Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance. I came to Colorado five years ago to attend University of Colorado. After working with the faculty there and under the mentorship of Dan Silver, I received my Masters of Music in Music Performance.I play in the Denver/Boulder area and am actively teaching a studio of bright, young clarinetists.   This depends on the student.  I am an easy going teacher.  I don't believe in applying pressure.  It is my job to get to know the student and find positive ways to help them develop their musical skills. I try to tailor the lesson to meet the students needs. I have taught instrumental music in public schools for 5 years which has included teaching grades 5-12 in subjects such as beginning band, beginning orchestra, intermediate band, intermediate orchestra, marching band, percussion ensembles, and small group/individual instruction. I have been teaching private lessons in drums, piano, and concert band instruments for 10 years. I have been a performing member of rock bands, concert bands, orchestras, jazz bands, marching bands, choirs, and percussion ensembles, so I have a very diverse knowledge base which gives me the ability to adapt my instruction as a teacher to meet the needs of any student's goals and aspirations. My teaching experience began in 2008, when I began teaching private lessons on various instruments, on voice, and on conducting. I later went on to teach band and choir at Cedar Bluff High School in 2011. After this, I volunteered as the band director at Valley Head High School in 2014. I have enjoyed every moment of teaching music and have taken so much from the experiences that I've had.
