Usually with a beginners for the first few lessons I start solfge and music theory and later continue introducing instrument. A typical lesson includes fundamentals (scales, articulation, embouchure), etudes, sight reading, solo repertoire, and duets....plus anything the student is working on in their current performing ensemble(s). I like to demonstrate concepts by modeling so the student knows what they are supposed to sound and look like. I will sometimes play to give an example or send a link to a recording to help the student. I encourage students to go at their own pace.
