I began teaching in 2009, with private students. The following year, I began working with non-profit organization, for two years, that brought music to at-risk and underprivileged children. After working with them, I began working with the Baton Rouge Arts Council, bringing music and music appreciation to elementary school class rooms for children and schools that did not have a music teacher, on staff. I believe in a positive perspective on practicing: regular practice will greatly enhance a student's progress with lessons. Focusing on, and isolating, challenges, rather than practicing what has already been acquired, will help the student gain proficiency and fluency in his or her musical ability. Music is, in a sense, both a fine art, and a discipline. For that reason I teach both interpretation and technic. I'm a cellist, composer, and a passionate teacher of many instruments. I've worked with students as young as 2 and as old as 90. My students have gotten in to region, all-state, college music programs, prestigious summer festivals, and placed in national competitions. I've taught children with autism, ADHD, and dyslexia. I use the Suzuki method for all starters, however, the repertoire is not only Suzuki. As indicated reading method, the more used is the I Can Read Music and the Hal Leonard Essential Elements. My students' repertoire is very significant in the process to be played and arranged for an ensemble as well.
