I am a passionate instructor who enjoys working with students of all ages. I started performing, professionally, at a very young age, during my 6 years at the Alabama School of Fine Arts. From there, I attended the Louisiana State University, as a cello performance major and performed with the school symphony, as well as the Alexandria Symphony, the Lake Charles Symphony and local venues. For a creative activity, I encourage my students to relax and have fun while learning about the nuances of the music playing to comprehend the relationship between the theory and the performance. I believe that music learning is just like the alphabet, learning each letter by the time. My personal goal is to teach my students how to be performers and play beautiful music on the concert stage. A concert can be as little as one piece in a family dinner or a gig in a teacher while learning that we can captivate an audience and drive their emotions with our music. Read More

For all my cello students, I start with 170 Foundation Studies and a modified Suzuki Method (Cello). Once my students reach Suzuki book 4, then they can start playing Bach Suites, and other intermediate repertoir. The Bach Suites, however, are what most of my cello students are interested in learning. For piano students, I use the Bastien piano series by Neil Kjos. I want my students to be interested and engaged, and coach them through basics while also trying to find pieces or genres they want to play. Read More

I have been surrounded by music my entire life. My mother was a concert pianist and opera singer for many years, so I grew up attending rehearsals and experiencing music at its finest. I began my piano studies at age 2 and began playing the cello at age 14. For the beginning string player I like to start with a Hal Leonard method book to communicate and help string players master the basics. Once the student has progressed I will begin some solo repertoire from varying genres. I find it is always helpful to allow students to play music that they enjoy - experiencing a range of both popular and classical pieces to broaden their horizons.
