I started playing the cello when at the age of 8 in the 4th grade, and immediately fell in love with it. I am a devoted musician and private lesson instructor in Cincinnati, Ohio. Sharing my love for music with my students is a passion of mine, and I strive to help my students achieve success every day. I graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education in May 2020. Through music, I have participated in multiple community service opportunities, I was able to perform in a music video, I traveled to Ireland on a concert tour, and I performed for a crowd of 2,000 people at one of the nation's largest Irish Festivals in Dublin, Ohio. I really do cater each lesson to each individual student's needs and ambitions. One of the biggest skills needed as a musician is knowing how to practice and improve. I focus this a lot. We also keep it fun of course and play duets together! Instilling proper technique is crucial to healthy playing of the cello. I give systematic instructions on how to navigate the cello. My philosophy of teaching is that there is a base of knowledge and skills that a student must possess before a more personal journey in music can occur. While I don't subscribe to any particular method I do believe there is a best order to learning. When i start a beginner student, i like to use either Essential Elements or Suzuki for violin and cello. For piano, i like to use the Faber method books. As the student progresses with either instrument, I try to encourage them to continue with scales and to move up in their playing abilities and music reading.
