Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

I had the opportunity to be the leader of the cello section, where some of my responsibilities included preparing the cello section with weekly sectionals for performances, as well as playing the cello solos in the orchestra. I believe that music lessons should have the performance as a goal, but actually enjoying each day of practicing. For the beginning string player I like to start with a Hal Leonard method book to communicate and help string players master the basics. Once the student has progressed I will begin some solo repertoire from varying genres. I find it is always helpful to allow students to play music that they enjoy - experiencing a range of both popular and classical pieces to broaden their horizons. I enjoy teaching music, and consider it my calling. Having started double bass in college, I began performing with the Fort Worth Symphony after studying two years. When in college in Florida, I served as Principal (first chair) Bass of the Greater Miami Opera, and the Fort Lauderdale Symphony. In graduate school in Michigan, I was Principal Bass of the Flint Symphony. Returning home to Dallas, I performed with the Dallas Symphony, and recorded over a dozen compact discs with the orchestra. While I am new to teaching, I am hoping to create a comfortable environment where students do not feel rushed to complete pieces or practices, and we will always move at the students pace. If a student is not yet ready to move on to the next piece, then we will continue polishing whatever they need before moving on. I will always keep a log of what the student is currently working on, and what they should work on between lessons so we can always make sure things get done, and can move on to new things. Read More
