I started teaching lessons when I was 18 at a music business and taught there between 3 to 5 hours a week for about 5 years. For the past 5 years I have been teaching at IU. I have taught many different styles from classical to jazz to rock, etc. and have also watched many great teachers and tried to learn from their methods. Not all my students in the past want to learn to read music however I really push for it, cause its the most helpful tool for being a working musician! I like to start my beginning students out with the Mel Bay book #1 through #7. However thats those books focus on some theory, mostly just and intro to reading notes on the staff.
