Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our voices are as unique as we are as individuals. I approach each student and sometimes each lesson from this perspective. Fundamentally singing is an aerodynamic process. My primary and most fundamental objective is to give my students pathways to understanding and using the power of breath to energize their singing. This energy is required regardless of vocal style. For beginning students, I start out with an Italian art song out of the the 24 Italian art song book. This helps with diction, breath support, and vocal line. Once the student has progressed, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire and let the student choose a couple of songs that he or she would like to sing. For adults, I also start out with an Italian art song, but also find out what the student is interested in and guide my instruction to keep the lessons engaging, encouraging, and fun no matter their ability level.
