Teaching people what they want to know and feeding their enthusiasm has been the best thing about teaching for me. Understanding what a student already knows, seeing where there may be gaps to fill and what new material they are ready for makes it a exciting experience for both the student and me. Using material that interests them and moving ahead in a way that encourages and rewards their effort gives them a true sense of accomplishment and heightens their enjoyment of the lessons and their own improved ability. Instruments: Voice

As a coach and motivator, my methods are rooted in ultimate self-reliance. The singer on stage stands alone, without their coach at their side. Many of my current and former students tour nationally and globally and have the skills and character to manage their own day to day careers. "Give a Diva a fish and she feasts for a day. Teach a Diva to fish and she feasts for a lifetime." Read More

Therefore, when I teach piano, I prefer Faber and Faber Piano Adventures paired with A Dozen a Day for added technique. Since many students in this school district are in band or orchestra, I usually use Essential Elements for Strings, Brass, and Woodwinds. I spend a reasonable amount of time preparing my students for our recitals and many of them join in the group songs, which have included "What a Wonderful World", "Happy", and currently "The Theme From Midnight Cowboy". I taught general music, choir, piano, and band in the public schools. I also worked in an after school youth orchestra, teaching woodwinds. Before that, I taught guitar to friends and some beginning students. I also helped my classmates who were learning guitar. I have mostly worked with beginners, and some more intermediate students. I have taught in the classroom setting and small group lessons, and some one-on-one lessons. I feel my greatest strength is teaching beginners and elementary aged students. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to after my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 40 years ago, and have been teaching students world-wide for the last 40 years. Encouraging creative ways to achieve one's goals is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student enjoy their progress. I've also have a unique way of teaching a student because each student is different. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
