As stated before, I began teaching as a private guitar instructor from 2012 to early 2018. Students' age ranged from 8 to 32 year olds. I taught basic music theory from intervallic relations between certain notes via guitar fretboard to the clear understanding of triads and scales. Mainly Ionian and all its other modes. Plus 12 or 16 bar blues, soloing concepts, covering songs while understanding the written development from a melodic and harmonic standpoint. And of course becoming familiar with all the notes on the fretboard and being able to sight read standard sheet must notation and chord charts. Read More

I have been living, teaching, and performing music in Austin for the last 8 years. I sing and play guitar with Sara Shansky and the Titanic Dance Band. I grew up in Rhode Island, went to Tufts University for my bachelors degree, and spent a few years on the west coast playing music and falling in love. My husband and I just had our first baby in August of 2012 and I'm sure he will be a music lover too! Read More

I love seeing my students find a love for music and develop skills they never thought they had. I love seeing them recognize how difficult singing is, but that they can do it. I love working one-on-one with my students and developing a relationship with them so I can better teach them and understand how they work as a person. I like to establish realistic smaller goals for them and help them to accomplish those goals one by one and add on harder things as they grow in skill. Read More

My Grandmother inspired me to play piano. My church taught me to sing. In high school I was involved in band and choir and was selected to tour Europe with a college group. To this day I work with foreign exchange students. In college I continued my musical studies although I majored in Public Relations. This allowed me me to take classes such as oral interpretation and work in radio/TV which enhanced my performing skills. Read More
