British/Canadian violinist, Freya C, combines a busy and varied performance schedule as a soloist, chamber musician and collaborative artist. She regularly performs in venues across the UK, which have included appearances at Royal Festival Hall, Cadogan Hall and Queen Elizabeth Hall, as well as throughout Europe, in such concert halls as the Festspielhaus (Salzburg), Herculessaal (Munich), Sendesaal (Bremen) and Brucknerhaus (Linz). I attended Highland High School, was concert master my freshman year in the Sinfonia (second highest orchestra at the school) and was in the Symphonic Strings/Orchestra (the top orchestra) for my remaining three years, and was concert master by my senior year. I performed in solo competitions regularly, as well as forming my own quartets, duos, and trios of various styles (from bluegrass, to contemporary, to classical). It all starts from fundamentals such as having good posture, listening to correct intonations, and learning bow technique. I believe the more students play scales and etudes such as Kayser, Wolfhart, Kreutzer,and Suzuki, the better they would become as a musicians in the future. As the students master the basics and get to know their violins, we'll move on to more advanced topics such as music theory and music history giving them all the knowledge needed to play complex pieces within just a few years of holding their violins for the first time. My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time. I encourage the student to see it , believe it and achieve all goals that can be set out to be accomplished. Practice on a daily basis is very necessary when gaining the passion for the chosen instrument. My students are encouraged to enter competitions and recitals, as well as work on composing their own original material, so they can feel good about their accomplishments and stay motivated to learn. I do my best to tailor my style to each students specific needs and goals. In general, I am a very laidback and patient teacher. My students recieve clear and achievable goals at the end of each of their lessons to work on while they are practicing during the week. This enables students to be able to really see their own progress as the practice.
