Throughout my time here, I solidified my teaching skills through my learning in person and online due to the pandemic. For younger piano students and beginners, I prefer to start them out on the Faber and Faber "Piano Adventures" method series. This series tends to be inexpensive, touches on classical exerpts while teaching students proper techniques, and builds on concepts in a way that solidifies the information in a student's brain. I love teaching! I am creative, enthusiastic, loving and fun. I have a bachelor of music from Northwestern State University, where I graduated summa cum laude in 2004. I went on to start my masters degree work at the University of Texas in Austin. Every violinist is different. I tailor my lessons to the students needs and wants. Through my flexible approach with students, I like for there to be organization to that approach. With that being said, once I find what works for a student, I will follow through with that and develop a long term plan to help that student accomplish their goals. If I see that a student does not have any goals set, I will encourage them by setting light goals for them, and then guide them into setting their own goals. Read More

For intermediate students I try to make it fun, according to their ages, may be throw some pop tunes here and there, or if they are more serious into classical then I would definitely enjoy the challenge of teaching relaxation techniques during difficult passages such as double stops, high positions, string crossings, etc. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level.
