Although this is my first official teaching job, I began teaching back in 2011 during my freshman year of high school. I had the pleasure of conducting and teaching both concert and chamber orchestra. I then became a student assistant my senior year and was able to do one-on-one's with the younger students. If a student is involved in school music ensembles, we will work with their lesson books from school in addition to material outside of the books, including Essential Elements 2000, and teacher-created materials. I teach children a supplimented Suzuki method, which means I teach the Suzuki Violin Method books with supplimental repertoire in addition such as fiddle tunes and other method books. I introduce note reading from the beginning in the most simple form, and gradually teach them along the way. I use scales, arpeggios, and tonalization to establish a solid technique in my first-year students which enables them to tackle intermediate skills such as shifting and vibrato with ease. Read More
