For piano students I usually use Piano Adventures method books while supplementing with scales, pop and classical repertoire, theory, ear training, history and more. For ukulele and guitar we focus on strumming patterns, rhythm, chords, and repertoire anywhere from rock or pop to classical. For beginner students, they learn through the Suzuki method, parents are to take notes during lessons so that they can effectively help their child at home. For parents of children ages 2-4, the parent is encouraged to learn the violin as well. This is so that the Suzuki Triangle works effectively. Parents play a key role in every aspect of their child's learning and development of their violin skills. After the student has completed Suzuki Violin School book 1, I then add supplemental music for them to learn and if the student is older, they are encouraged to choose styles, genres, etc. Read More

My official experience as a teacher began during my college years in a community school. I would teach mainly young beginners for a couple of years. Later, I only expanded my interest in teaching towards private lessons, as I found fundamental conflicts with my philosophy and the way our culture understands music learning.
