I teach flute and violin lessons throughout the Kansas City area and Lawrence, KS. I recently completed my Doctor of Musical Arts in Flute Performance at the University of Kansas where I served as the Graduate Teaching Assistant. For beginning students that are k-12 I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements to align with the public school music curriculum. For those 18+ or hoping to learn an instrument outside of school purposes I highly encourage students to pick out their own repertoire to learn however I'm more than happy to help with the process of choosing music. For those with a base line understanding of music we will still read from various methods books and play some standard repertoire but it will not be the focus of lessons. Read More

Advanced students should have a solid grasp of all the basic intervals of double-stops, and, in fact, should be able to play any combination of any two notes spanning up to a tenth, or as far as their fingers can reach. Thorough study of Dont and basic scale studies can help to achieve this, but it reaches its real application when one is able to play Paganini or Ysaÿe, and especially the works of Hindemith.
