Since then, I have only occasionally taught in my home, and moreso spent time exploring my own relationship to music, my body's relationship to the instrument, and to my sound. For piano I use the Alfred series, and for violin and viola I use a combination of Essential Elements and Suzuki books.  As students advance I introduce additional solo repertoire.  My voice students learn from a variety of sources.  I usually start with a song they know well and work from there.  Students also learn a variety of warm-ups and sight-singing techniques.   Read More

I'm a passionate and caring music educator and I love inspiring those around me to feel comfortable harnessing their expressive energy and manifesting it into art in their lives, specifically music. I study Music Theory and Composition at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with strong foundations in music theory, improvisation, and intuitive integration of sound and imagination. While I try to follow a mostly K12 standard structure to my private lessons at the end of the day I will be tailoring my instruction to my students wants and needs. I like to set attainable weekly goals with my students in regards to technique and style that will be implemented via exercises, scales and into our repertoire. I teach flute and violin lessons throughout the Kansas City area and Lawrence, KS. I recently completed my Doctor of Musical Arts in Flute Performance at the University of Kansas where I served as the Graduate Teaching Assistant. I serve as Principal Flute of the Sioux City Symphony Orchestra and sub with the Kansas City Symphony regularly. I am also the music director and conductor of the Kansas City Flute Choir. Read More
