I've enjoyed teaching piano, violin and viola students, for the past seventeen years! And what I've generally found is, that it's not how long you practice, but how well. I feel that a student needs to be taught how to practice! I travel around Westchester NY and in addition to teaching the instrument, I encourage students to compose their own original pieces. I teach the suzuki method for violin and for piano. I focus on music theory, sight reading, creativity and performance. I also use excercise books for violin such as the Schradieck violin technique, essential elements and Wholfart method for advanced beginners. I first make sure that tension is released and once the tension is released, we move on to playing scales and learning bowing technique. Hi there! I'm a dedicated and passionate violinist, teacher and all-around music enjoyer living in the Rochester area. I currently hold a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from SUNY Fredonia and have enjoyed a 10-year career so far teaching in classrooms and in the studio. Although my main job is now editing, I am happiest when playing in ensembles. Some high points were performing onstage with Yo Yo Ma with the Fredonia College Symphony Orchestra and playing an entertainment venue with a ukulele star from one of French Polynesia's preeminent folk groups. I held private lessons to students who were preparing for auditions, recitals, NYSSMA, college applications, and to people who just simply love playing music. I have taught students ranging from elementary school to retirees. I encourage students to practice every day and help them stay motivated.
