I teach a combination of Suzuki and traditional methods. I grew up as a Suzuki student, but in my professional teaching life have learned to add additional methods into lessons to supplement training. For young, beginner students, I start them off with a method book like "All for Strings," which teaches first by rote. As a music and acting coach, I'm an LA industry specialist. My music students are often high school students in the prestigious performing schools in Southern California including OCHA, HBAPA, Wilson High, Marina High and Millkin High. I have been teaching for the last 14 years for other music schools as well as my home studio. In time, if a student is showing a particular interest in continuing in music I will begin teaching theory skills and more difficult musical assignments. For non-beginner students I will address more advanced matters of technique and musicality while also teaching music theory principals. My own work in the field of music theory has helped my playing and understanding of music immensely and I feel that any student, whether or not they intend to pursue music as a career, will benefit from understanding the WHY behind things we teach.
