Progress is not always easy when learning to play a new instrument. Everyone learns at there own pace, and with each lessons I will set attainable goals for the student. it is best when students have varying difficulties of material within their material in order to provide opportunity for satisfaction despite whatever struggles they may have. I encourage daily practice, even if only for small amounts of time. Effective practice requires some level of independence, and I focus a lot our time on the art of practicing, and how to focus your attention in order to get the best out of your practice time. I believe it is important to cater to each student's needs individually so I have many method books and options for teaching. If the student is being instructed through a school program I will happily use that book and the methods therein so that the student does not get confused. If there is no such outside instruction I choose to begin with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements supplemented by other method series' such as Suzuki and All For Strings. Read More

I create my lessons around the goals of each student. I mainly use Suzuki method books, but am willing to work with students if they are already working on one or will assign a different method book for absolute beginners to music. I also incorporate a number of my own scale and etude exercises which are introduced early on, for both children and adults.
