I am dedicated, persistent, and reliable. I am willing to learn and keep learning for the advancement of myself and my students. A well-rounded appreciation for music as well as critical listening and ear-training skills will be taught.  I also maintain a pretty fast paced lesson, enabling the student to have plenty of practice material, technique studies, and goals to meet. I have been teaching in classrooms and after-school programs for over twenty years, and in 2023 began teaching music lessons in my home studio. I grew up playing music and participating in school bands and orchestras, but spent the first half of my adulthood in careers unrelated to music. I have found that my formal music education did not prepare me for the music-making that I find most rewarding today--making music collaboratively and casually with friends. Read More

I have been continuously employed as a professional trumpet player since the age of 15. Currently, I hold positions as principal trumpet with the state philharmonic orchestra of Sonora, Mexico; second trumpet with the Sierra Vista Symphony; third trumpet with the Tucson Pops Orchestra, substitute/extra with the Phoenix Symphony and Tucson Symphony Orchestra. My teachers have included principal trumpeters of the Cleveland Orchestra and Chicago Symphony Orchestra. A child will not learn to play an instrument overnight or in one week, the commitment to practice and keeping track of that practice is essential. Nothing helps us learn better than encouragement, even when it sounds bad. Any teacher can tell if a student hasn't practiced or put forth a good effort.
