Intermediate students and beyond learn should indicate any interests they have musically to have a supplement to lesson materials. When teaching students who are young, I would first start off with the fundamentals. For example, I would explain music terms to them and develop the new language from there. Once the student has a basic understanding of music, I would then talk about the Circle of Fifths and encourage them to participate in events like concerts or festivals in school. I am rigorous and expect my students to do their best, but I'm also patient, understanding and forgiving. I strive to have my students play their notes correctly, and I go beyond that to instruct them in the style in which a piece is to be played. I try to instill confidence in my students, to encourage their muse, and to point them to success in their musical endeavors.
