I do my best to cater to each individual students needs.  For younger beginning studetns, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements, or whatever materials they are using in school.  For all of my students, even the more experienced ones, I work on building fundamentals and extending techniques.  Fundamentals are an essential cornerstone to build all other aspects of music upon.  Also from the very start of lessons, I like to have the student working on actual music, whether it be a simple song or more advanced solo repertoire, the goal of these lessons should be to better make music and have fun doing it! I love teaching because I believe most, if not all, people love music and can learn to love making music. I want it to be fun for them, to keep them interested. I believe that a set of expectations on the student is required to keep them motivated, but I am never upset or disappointed if they don't practice enough. I think keeping them involved in music is the most important part, and I know that many students will not pursue a full time career in music, but music is valuable to them in so many ways. Read More
