This might include taking a solo to contest, performing a recital, working on marching band or concert band music, or any other musical outlet. Based on the desires of the student, I can tailor my lessons to suite them personally. Guitar: for beginners, I typically turn to Mel Bays Method books. Once fundamentals are established, I want to learn what styles, bands, and artists the student likes. This helps me figure out which techniques and skills the student might need to know first in order to learn to play the music they enjoy. Read More

Lively and Encouraging! Music is tough and can be very stressful! I stay upbeat and optimistic. It is important that a student is aware that practice and progress is NOT easy and it WILL be frustrating and aggravating. It is how you deal with that frustration that makes the player great! For young beginner students (Ages 3-7) I typically start them with the Music for Little Mozart Series (4 books total).
