My ultimate goal in teaching music students is to develop players who are intrinsically motivated. This is a long-term process which I enjoy guiding. I'm very interested in the psychology of motivation for each individual student, realizing that what "works" with one student may not be effective with another. I enjoy developing a relationship with individual students which is based on more than our involvement in music. I began teaching private French horn students in 2011, and I have been teaching music in various ways since then. I have been both a general music and a band teacher, working with students in Preschool through Eighth Grade. With my private students I emphasize regular practice as the best way to improve and keep having fun with an instrument.
