I am an enthusiastic and versatile musician that has been learning and expounding upon my knowledge for over 18 years. I am from Tallahassee, FL, in which I am currently based and have attended high school (James S. Rickards H.S. c/o 2012) and college (Florida A M University) where I studied Music Education. I have spent the past three years living in Miami where I completed my Masters Degree in music education. During this time I was an active trumpet player in south Florida playing with orchestras, brass bands, jazz groups, and quite regularly latin bands due to the popularity of salsa/latin styles in that region. My Bachelors degree was completed in 2006 at the Univeristy of Delware. I completed their music teacher preparation program, participating in both educational studies and a wide range of music ensembles including wind band, brass choir, marching band, and jazz band. I always enjoy seeing the light bulb moment my students get when they get something right, and learn something new. My teaching method is a simple stacking method we start with a lesson, I try to find where the student may struggle most and spend time with that. Then we move forward, but revisit the lesson prior for continuity. I played in a military drum and bugle corp, and continued playing through college where I received a degree in music theory and composition all the while being a part of the trumpet studio at the University of Florida.
