I have not been teaching lessons for long in my career, but since I grew up in Northeast Ohio and went to school at the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory, I know the region well. I participated in the Cleveland Youth Wind Symphony and the Akron Youth Symphony, so I am familiar with opportunities that are in the area and know how to prepare students for these types of elite ensembles. I have accompanied my students on stage with Audra McDonald in Chicago, and I have had students move on to professional and semi-professional careers in classical music and music theater. A few years back, one of my voice students landed a major role in one of the most successful movie-musicals in recent history. In my lessons, I work hard to create a routine that best fits the students needs. This typically means that many of my students are not following a specific lesson plan or standard routine. Starting out, I stress fundamentals and warm-ups to help the students create a solid grasp of the instrument, before making the move towards solo repertoire. I cater my teaching to the students needs as an individual and their goals. I am interested in fostering their inate musical abilities, as well as the musical skills they wish to obtain. If the student is in a school instrumental program, I always defer to the band director as the student spends more time with them. I am able to teach trombone and euphonium lessons to anyone and any age from those that have just started playing through those looking to just improve their musicianship. I tailor my methodology to the needs of my students, and I am willing to work with them to try and find the best way for them to learn. I am a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music I was lucky enough to be able to do both my master and my bachelor degrees there, as well as getting the chance to study and collaborate with many musicians from the Cleveland Orchestra.
