I like to learn who my student is before starting anything. I want to know what their interests are and what their view on music is. I then take that and bond with them and teach them in a certain way that matches their thoughts and personalities the best. I like to have fun and not be too strict as long as the student is doing their work, but if they are not staying on track the fun is replaced with more focus on concepts to be sure they are learning what is needed. I have been a music teacher for over 25 years and have taught music at all levels from kindergarten through college both in the United States and abroad in the Caribbean, Japan, and Africa.. Many students give up simply because they don't know how to practice, but I hope to show them how easy it is to enjoy your practicing.
