I'm a passionate musician that has a love for teaching. I graduate in 2017 from Alderson Broaddus University with a bachelors degree in Music Education, Music Performance, and Musical Arts. Then in 2019 I graduated from Shenandoah Conservatory with a Masters degree in Music Performance. After that I was the second trombonist with the Loudon Symphony Orchestra and the principal trombone of the 2019 Shenandoah Summer Music Theater company. I have had the great opportunity to perform with a very wide variety of ensembles and as a soloist in some amazing venues, most recently on the Millennium Stage at the Kennedy Center. Read More

As a teacher I strive to give my students their best guide to success, knowing that every student has their own individual needs and ambitions. I like to start beginning students on Pearson's Standard of Excellence books and then broadening out to other methods after they get a good grasp of the basic elements of their instrument. More advanced players will be taught aspects of music theory and how to become more of a complete musician rather than just being a good player. Read More
Instruments: Trumpet, Trombone, Euphonium, Music, Acoustic Guitar
My teaching style is dependent on the student. For some assigning certain things to practice and having the student keep track is a good motivator, for others its just asking them to look at the music. I always provide positive reinforcement to known work and effort, but I am also honest when it is obvious effort hasnt been put in to the work assigned. Read More

I always ask my students what they want to achieve and base my teaching on those goals. ( Of course, I provide guidance in making some of those goals!) For guitar, keyboards, bass and drums, I use method books, but also I teach students how to read "chord charts" or lead sheets. Read More
