I will start youbg beginner students with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. As the student progresses, I will introduce solo literature appropriate for their skill level. For older beginners, I will assess their interests in order to keep them interested in their new instrument. For students with more experience, I will assess their skill level and assign exercises to further develop their fundamentals, and assign literature to grow the student's repertoire that will also reinforce their strong points while strengthening other points in their playing. I believe in the power of music and truly believe that anyone can learn. In 2013, I graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music. In 2015, I earned my Masters of Education degree from Walden University. I have had the opportunity to perform in countries all over the world including Germany, France, Italy, Austria, and more. I traveled to California for college, where I received a Bachelor of Music Composition degree from Biola University. While in college, I continued engraving, was hired to compose music for musical plays, taught piano privately, and directed the music at my church. I am a graduate of Texas Tech University. I began teaching privately in 1985 on the Lubbock ISD Music Tutorial Program. I went into the schools and taught students privately during class hours. I taught Tuba and Baritone Horn. In 1989 I began teaching with Lubbock Parks and Recreation in the community centers. This was more generalized. I taught Band Instruments, Voice, Guitar, Music Theory, Beginner Piano, Beginner Strings. What I consider to be my crown achievement is hearing from parents who told me that the overall academic performance of their children had improved since they began taking lessons from me. Read More
