Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Since 2010 I have been teaching young Marine trombone players, and began to teach private lessons to middle and high school trombone players in 2014. The art of trombone playing is rooted in the fundamentals, and emulating the great examples of the best to play trombone through out history. Consistent, regular practice is a must when learning any instrument, as is playing something enjoyable every time you pick up your horn. Teaching music is my life's greatest passion and I am so blessed to have the opportunity to do that every day. In 2016, I graduated from James Madison University with a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education. While there, I performed in all kinds of ensembles from wind bands, to jazz ensembles, to pop groups. I also performed with Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps in 2013. I fell in love with classical music while watching Leonard Bernstein conduct the NY Philharmonic as a young boy.In 1979 I graduated from Eastern Nazarene College with a BA in Psychology and a minor in Music Education. For the past 40 plus years I have taught music to children and adults in school and church settings, and at a performing arts center. I currently teach children how to play orchestra instruments through the NC Symphony Instrument Zoo Program. Read More

For beginner students use the Hal Leonard Essential Elements 2000 method books. These books offer a very detailed and easy fundamental based method to start beginners off on the right foot. These books also utilize simple and recognizable melodies to aid in the student’s learning. For adults, I like to use the Rubank Methods, starting with the Rubank Elementary Method. These books provide a very strong focus in fundamentals for those who are slightly more advanced. Read More

My teaching experience began about 12 years ago. As a young college student, I was lucky enough to teach beginner students both privately as well as group lessons. After college, I began working in a music school in Caracas, Venezuela that was part of "El sistema". This was an experience like no other, I remember having as many as 10 trumpet students together for group lessons. These students were as young as 7 years old up to 14 years old. Read More
