Instruments: Piano, Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet, Recorder, Music

This will depend on the level of the student and if they are in a band program in a school currently. I want to teach lessons as a supplement to what a student is learning in school, so I will work with the music and method book they already have. If the student is not in a band program, I would recommend starting with the Essential Elements band method. We will start with reading music, basic tone production, and good practice skills. Instruments: Piano, Voice, Trumpet, Trombone, Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet, Ukulele, Recorder, French Horn, Tuba, Music, Keyboard

My teaching style is positive, encouraging, demonstrative, and (I may have mentioned it before) FUN! Every teacher is looking for the "light bulb" moment. The moment the content really clicks with a student. It always turns on at different moments with each student. I love encouraging my students to never give up. I know what it is like to have a teacher who doesn't care about their student. That will never be the case for me! Read More

Instruments: Saxophone, Clarinet

For beginner students, I use a variety of lesson materials. If the student is involved in band, I try to stick with whatever book their teacher has assigned them. In Seattle Public Schools, we use Standard of Excellence. I also add other materials as the student advances such as scales, etudes, and finger and rhythm exercises. Adding in music the student finds exciting also helps them feel more encouraged to practice! Read More

Instruments: Piano, Saxophone, Flute, Music

What I like to do is find out what my students know about music and then work from there. For instrumental I start with basics and play through scales to see how they play and how they can improve. For students that are younger or completely new to music, we would start with very basic general music terms and would become very close to the instrument of choice knowing the parts, how sound works with the instrument and how to properly play the instrument (close to the Suzuki method). my instructions are easy to follow no matter the age or ability level. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
