I am an experienced musician and have played a number of genres. I also have experience in playing the 4 standard types of saxophone (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Baritone). During my undergrad I held leadership roles in multiple ensembles which required me to train and teach students of various skill levels and ages. I have been teaching since I was in high school, and have enjoyed each lesson. I emphasize a strong fundamental base and building upon each students individual interests to help them develop their musical curiosity. I like to model lessons after an ideal practice session, starting with a fundamental warmup and development, moving into scale work, and then addressing the repertoire being studied. For beginning students, I start with the Essential Elements book. If the student has already taken lessons or is in their school band/orchestra, I encourage moving onto the Rubank Elementary, Intermediate, and Advanced method books depending on ability. Once a student has proven that they are able to handle it, I will start on solo repertoire.
