Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. For beginning students I will start with fundamentals, music theory and basic music reading lessons. For more advanced students I teach those same methods but will also apply improvisation and song writing to the lessons with my own “4 Steps to Song Writing” method. This easy method to song writing will help the student develop an ear for melody and harmony composing. Each student will take home music to practice over the week to prepare for the next lesson. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with a method book in order to introduce finger numbers and good technique. We build more and more skills as time progresses. Depending on the student, we may depart from the method book and learn more substantial songs; I'm very good with adapting to the skill levels and strengths of each student. With older students, since they generally have a better feel for what songs/composers they like, I will give them more freedom to choose their own songs and work with them from there. Read More

I started general music lessons at the age of 2 and piano lessons at age 4. Upon starting middle school, I joined the band and played flute and oboe, and I continued playing flute in school band through 9th grade. My 10th grade year was spent at Performing Arts High School in Fort Worth, where I focused half of every day exclusively on Dance, Art, Drama, and Music. When I graduated from high school, I was awarded a music scholarship to Texas Woman's University where I took private piano and voice lessons, as well as group guitar lessons and brass/percussion and woodwind classes.
