Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. I do this by setting realistic goals each week for my students, dependent on their level of perfomance and the pace that they are progressing. I do not usually follow any method book as every student is different, has different background, goals and aspirations. I try to mix exercises/methods that I use in my practice with materials of accomplished pedagogues. I have my set of warm-ups that I use on saxophone, clarinet, and flute; I often find myself using flute method while playing the saxophone which only pushes my and my students abilities and makes them better musicians. For beginning piano students, I tend to use the Alfred method books 1-3, then graduate to Hanon "the virtuoso pianist" I stress the "fundamentals" while adding solo repertory for enjoyment and solo playing. Simple piano pieces keep the lessons fun for beginners, while classical works are encouraged for intermediate and advanced students. For violin and viola, one of my choices is "All for Strings". I do add Mueller-Rusch books after the first year, and some solo pieces from the Suzuki methods. Read More
