Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. I have been teaching music in the public schools and private lessons for the past 7 years. I love teaching children and people of all ages how to play and enjoy music! I graduated from the University of Maryland (College Park) in 2009 and I am currently obtaining my Master's in Special Education from Bowie State University. I always tailor my lessons to my students needs and desires and never waste time. Nothing is more important than a students progress and growth so I weed out all the irrelevant or potentially boring information in music lessons and cut straight to the chase of what is going to help the student learn and enjoy their progress. The method book I use often depends on the level of the student and what we are specifically working on, especially when it comes to percussion. In lessons, I typically use a book and then supplement it with other exercises or music. A former teacher of mine taught me how to create exercises for whatever I was struggling with when I was in 8th grade. To this day that is still a prevalent method I use because it utilizes the student's creativity and allows them to take ownership of their learning. Read More

I take the student at his/her own pace. I try to be sensitive to the needs of the student not just his/her musical needs but his/her academic needs as my ability to continue working with the student depends upon his/her academic success. I will suggest a basic routine at home: Housework, Practice, Study, Leisure, Bedtime.
