My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 20 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 4 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. For voice I create my own custon lesson plans and use a variety of materials. Students will work on a great variety of repetorie from pop to renaissance. Students are encourgaed to learn to read music, with a great emphasis placed upon practical music theory. I aim to develop intellegent musical artists, foscuing upon intrepretation, critical thinking, historical considerations and creativity. For piano I general use the Faber and Faber method books unless I feel that a particular method would better benefit a specific student. Read More

If the student does not enjoy the lesson then they will not enjoy playing the instrument! With this in mind, I make sure to enforce the joy of music and focus on the fun side of playing. I recommend students learning at their own pace. This is done by setting appropriate goals and focusing on what each student needs to reach those goals.
