Music is a passion of mine, and Im so thankful I have the opportunity to share it with others! In 2013 I graduated from Bryan College with a BS in Piano Performance. I was blessed with many performance opportunities during college, including piano recitals, musical showcases, accompanying performers and chamber ensemble music. Although I enjoy performing, teaching is my first passion. My teaching journey began in and throughout college in 2016, when I began teaching lessons privately, and after receiving my second degree, I teach from my in-home studio. Since I began studying at a young age, I have a special love and passion for helping my students with the piano. Teaching students from five years to 75 years, I am thankful my teaching experience has been very diverse; I enjoy the challenge of an advanced student, and the energy of a new student; always looking to bring on new students of all ages. I fell in love with classical music while watching Leonard Bernstein conduct the NY Philharmonic as a young boy.In 1979 I graduated from Eastern Nazarene College with a BA in Psychology and a minor in Music Education. For the past 40 plus years I have taught music to children and adults in school and church settings, and at a performing arts center. I currently teach children how to play orchestra instruments through the NC Symphony Instrument Zoo Program. Read More

My favorite part of my position is seeing my students develop and progress in their passion for music! It is critical that each student practices at his or her own pace. I set realistic goals for each lesson in order to make it fun and engaging. I acknowledge their accomplishments to fuel a student's desire for progress and eagerness to learn more. My ultimate goal is to instill a love of music in my students. Because of this, I aim to create a positive, encouraging environment that welcomes mistakes and fosters exploration. Since every person is unique, I work with each student at his or her own pace and try to match my teaching style to the student's learning style.
