As early as I can recall, Ive loved teaching. Whether that meant being a teachers assistant or elementary school aide in my younger years, or as a music educator throughout and post-college. In high school, I was a Dance Captain for my schools competitive show choir, and would compose, arrange, and choreograph. While in college, I went to several music educators conferences, and was an active member of both the NAfME and IMEA (Indiana Music Educators Association.) For the past 9 years I taught over 550 children and adults of different levels piano, theory, sight-reading, and play a variety of classical musical compositions at a fast rate. I arranged the following piano ensemble music for students: Piano duos, Piano 6 Hands, 4 Pianos 8 Hands, Piano trios, and Piano quartets. I held piano recitals with all of her students every year. With the beginning students I use Alfred and Bastien piano instructional books. Also, the children simultaneously learn to read notes and understand music notation. In my teaching method the goal is to combine high level of technique with musicality and individual interpretation. The beginners’ lessons are systematized as a successful blend of fun musical games and new academic material, thus learning new is fun and inspiring.
