I have been singing and teaching for over 30 years both professionally and for my own enjoyment.  Singing is my passion, it is what I do.  I have found that teaching someone to enjoy and express themselves through music is perhaps one of the most rewarding things I do.  For the past several  years I have had the privilege to teach within several school districts as a Private Voice Instructor. These districts include Arlington ISD, Grapevine ISD, Plano ISD and Lewisville ISD.  During my time with Grapevine ISD I worked closely with Music Faculty in support of their program which included writing curriculum for the Music History program.  I work closely with my students and their Choral Director to make the musical experience fun and rewarding.  At the end of the school year the students perform in recital for their parents and friends.  I am always very proud of my students as they demonstrate what they have learned and how much they have improved through the year. During the first lesson, I get to know the student, find out their interests and determine which course will be the best start. The most important thing for all students is to keep the lessons engaging and fun. Piano: For younger beginning students, I typically start with the Alfred Basic Piano Library. In the early years of my teaching profession I taught in various small Texas school districts. I taught in Houston ISD for over 25 years. I have taught PK fifth grade students throughout my career. I initiated a piano lab at my last school for second grade students. I employed creativity and fun in my mission to expose my students to the use of various percussion instruments. I don't have many official teaching experiences, except for my student observing classes. For a class we had to drive to some middle school and high school for a year, attend about 4hrs and help the bands in these schools. I was able to help at Robstown High School and Seale middle school, and got the opportunity to help their clarinet sections as much as possible. I also attended HMK High school and Gillette Middle School, here I was able to work with all instrument players but focus more on music theory. Read More

As stated before, my first goal is to help the student feel comfortable in the lesson. I find that without this, a student will have a hard time succeeding. I myself am classically trained. This is also how I like to train my students. With a classical base training, a student can succeed in any style of music.
