Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

I have always had a deep appreciation for music. This led me to learn to play piano, beginning at age 5. By age 7, I was writing pieces of my own. In highschool, I found that I enjoyed teaching piano to others. I enjoy many different types and styles of music, I earned my associate of arts from eastfield college before finding double majoring at Cedar Valley College. I have played in several ensembles and a few different rock bands in my time. I am pursuing my Bachelor's degree from University of Texas at Arlington. My teaching style is to be sensitive to each student. Each person has a different relationship and understanding of music. I try to identify and accommodate the ways in which the student learns best. Some students need explicit instruction and to be pushed, others need gentle guidance with time and space to work things out for themselves. A student's personality and ambitions will inform whether they need a relaxed environment or a more assertive variety of instruction. Read More

For beginning students, I typically start with simple traditional songs that they know. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For advanced beginners to intermediate-level students, I try to find out what interests the student may have, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun—no matter their ability level. For Piano students: I teach from Faber and Faber (age appropriate volumes) and encourage a disciplined home practice routine that includes a practice log and weekly goals. Solo pieces added over time. Performances - even if only an in home recital for a few family members and friends - are encouraged about once a semester. For voice students: I teach very tailored lessons to suit individual goals, even if the goal is just to sing better in the shower. Read More
