With that said, I take a balanced approached between learning traditional fundamentals and some of my own more philosophical approach, drawing on metaphors and analagous experiences to help frame this learning experience in ways the student can relate and understand. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it is important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a student's desire to progress and makes students eager to learn more. I am primarily a classical pianist, and I have been taking lessons for about 10 years from an adjunct professor at Tulane University, but I also enjoy playing jazz/blues and pop.
