Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

Lessons should be positive experiences where students are nurtured and encouraged so that they look forward to their lessons. I like students to keep a practice notebook which we fill out during the lesson. Rather than being required to practice for a set number of minutes per day, we instead keep track of how many times an exercise or song is practiced. Stickers are given for a good practice week and the burden of supervising practice by the parents is greatly eased. Read More

My teaching style varies depending on the level of the student. For beginners, I often keep my approach lax and hope to not overwhelm them, as Ive seen many a beginner quit due to lack of confidence and understanding. Every student requires a different approach not just due to their skill level but also their personality. Certain students dont take criticism well, while others may only improve through it. I am able to teach with a method book, and also without one. I have found success with the Hal Leonard method books and the William Leavitt books. I also enjoy going outside of the method books, writing out lessons by hand, and teaching the student songs and techniques they wish to learn. For complete beginners, I start out by teaching the student the names of the strings on the guitar and go into basic chords. Read More

I began playing piano at 3 years old. I started playing trumpet at 9 years old joining various community orchestras, drum and bugle corps, grammer/highschool bands. When I was 14 or so I started playing string instruments including the guitar and bass guitar, moved to Boston in my early twenties and studied at Berkeley College of Music .
