Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. My methods vary from student to student, but a constant in my methodology is doing what I can to make the student fall in love with the instrument in their own way. Some students progress better with curriculum and disciplines right off the bat, while others need the instrument as more of an expression and an outlet, so Ive learned to respect that. In college I began teaching drumlines over the summer for various high school programs. During that time is when I really began to fall in love with the teaching process and watching my students improve and grow as musicians. My style largely depends on the student and his/her needs and interests. I enjoy using rewards-based encouragement, especially for younger students. The rewards I give are always musical and I usually let the student choose. For example, one of the rewards for consistent practice, learning songs, and listening to recordings is the opportunity to write a parody song.
