My teaching style is based primarily on theory and practice. While every student can and will progress according to their needs, I think its important to start with basics, like how to properly hold and play the instrument. Once the basics are down, well usually transition towards learning more music theory, like scales and chord structures, and how to build a song from the ground up. I use a very concise methodology in my instruction. I evaluate the students level, from there I make a step by step guide (of selected piece and etudes) to show the student their progress into the next level. Every student is unique when it comes to interests, pre-existing skill and knowledge, learning styles, what they hope to gain from lessons, and physical attributes such as hand and finger size that factor into how that person will play.
