Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. My fourteen years as a strings teacher has included both private lessons and public school settings. Many of his students have gone on to be involved in regional orchestras, Houston Youth Symphony, and university orchestras. From 2007 through 2010 orchestras under my care have earned consistent First Division ratings at UIL competitions, including “Sweepstakes” honors in 2008. For beginning drum set students, the program I recommend is starting with Drum Set Essentials by Peter Erskine. As skills in rudiments and basic patterns develop, I go on to materials such as Syncopation by Ted Reed (reading,coordination,technique), and Stick Control by George Lawrence Stone (technique). For piano, I go over basic theory,major and minor scales,chords and arpeggios and work in Piano For Adults by James Bastien. Read More

I'm a professional musician with over 15 years in Music teaching experience. I have a broad range of experiences in sound and music composing field. My musical roots date back to my early childhood.My parents encouraged me to stick with percussion family instrument and I'm started playing guitar at age 11. Now, I'm playing many other instruments. I believe listening is the key to learning. I listen to my students to discover what techniques are working best for them and which are their weakest then adapt my lessons to their needs. I also try to teach students how to listen to music, hear the empty spaces in songs that really give them their polish, and how to listen for other individual instruments to understand whem to accompany instruments and when to give them their own space. My BA from Harvard is in Folklore and Mythology, and I am a professional storyteller. For nearly 30 years, I have also been an elementary school teacher. During four of those years, I was a public school music teacher, but music and the arts were always fundamental to my integrated approach. I received training in the Montessori Method, and have applied it to my musical lessons as well .
