While I taught before graduate school, most of my teaching experience comes from the graduate assistant ship I held while studying. I taught undergraduate students with guitar as their primary instrument and also oversaw several classical guitar esembles. Outside of the assistantship I have taught a wide range of ages, from young children to middle-aged adults. I started teaching lessons when I was 18 at a music business and taught there between 3 to 5 hours a week for about 5 years. For the past 5 years I have been teaching at IU. I have taught many different styles from classical to jazz to rock, etc. and have also watched many great teachers and tried to learn from their methods. I began teaching back in my sophomore year of high school when one of my friends wanted to learn how to play the piano. I gave them half hour lessons once a week and tailored my teaching to fit what techniques they wanted to learn. After that, I began branching out and teaching other friends, and eventually found myself helping out the middle school bands during my study hall. Now that I am in college, my own playing has improved and I have found new ways to connect and teach students whether that be in person, or by using technology such as skype. Read More

I began giving guitar lessons around the age of 15. I was eventually hired as an instructor at GuitarWorks in Greenwood, Indiana where my teaching experience blossomed. I was able to work with five year olds to fifty year olds of all skill levels and musical interests. This greatly broadened my approach for each individual student to tailor my lessons according to their interests and goals.
