I have taught private lessons in my own studio, also at afterschool institutes/programs such as Orchepia School of Music in Diamond Bar, CA, and Kid's Orchestra in Baton Rouge, LA. For all ages I like to begin with a skills test. Where they show me where they currently stand with their instrument. From there I refer to books by Trevor Wye to give students a strong fundamental basis in tone, technique, articulation, intonation/vibrato, and breathing/scales. From there the lessons would be tailored to where the student wants to go with their learning.
