My teaching experience began when I was in college. I taught trombone and euphonium private lessons for several years in the school district that I attended when I was a student. Additionally, I also have done All State Masterclasses for the TMEA trombone etudes. Encouraging regular practice, building the life-long skill of discipline, and hard work are key skills that I enjoy getting to emphasize to my students, as it has a tendency to build student progression and ultimately gain a passion for learning the instrument. It all started when I took my first drum lesson in the 4th grade. From then on, I wanted to play whenever I could. I played in all my school bands from middle school to high school. Graduated Southern University, home of the world famous "Human Jukebox" which I was a member of for 3 years, as well as playing for my church since I was 13. Along the way I have had the honor of meeting and learning from respected musicians such as Lawrence Jackson (former director of SU Bands), Herman Jackson (Brother of Randy Jackson), Jerry Lee Lane (Marching percussion pioneer) and countless others. For my piano students, I teach them on a keyboard to get them familiarized with the layout of the piano. I teach proper fingerings, scales, and most importantly music theory. For my flute, clarinet, and saxophone students I work out of appropriate etude books for their performance level. I also teach jazz improvisation. I am an enthusiastic and passionate private flute instructor who loves working with students of all ages. I love to see students grow into better musicians with each lesson we have. In May of 2016, I graduated from Texas State University with a Bachelor of Music Degree. I had an incredible opportunity to perform with the Texas State University Wind Symphony at the Collegiate Band Directors National Association conference in 2014.
