For beginning students, I typically start with three separate methods for each instrument that are all offered on SmartMusic. A student may opt to use the books. One method works with tone, another deals with technique and the third one works rhythms. I then slowly integrate solo and ensemble repertoire which leads to your first performance. I have universal expectations for all my students, especially for practicing and lesson structure. However, I know that each person will have a different way of learning that works best for them, and so I choose the approach that will help each student excel. I choose techniques and repertoire based on a student's current abilities and progress and what I think best suits his or her tastes. I also encourage my students to participate in school or area auditions and competitions that mark a student's achievements and success. Read More

In high school I had the great privilege of being selected as the Principal clarinetist in the Minnesota All-State Band. We performed at the summer camp designed for these groups and recreated our performance at Orchestra Hall, home of the Minnesota Orchestra, the following spring. Clarinet is my primary instrument and first love. I also teach saxophone and beginning flute and hope to add other woodwinds in the future. Piano has always been an important influence in my musical performances and I believe it is a gateway to interest in other instruments, so I truly enjoy teaching it! Read More

In May of 2014, I graduated from Manhattan School of Music with a Master of Music degree in Orchestral Performance. I also received my Bachelor of Music degree in 2008 from Manhattan School of Music.
