Hi there! My name is Hunter A. I'm currently a Music Education and Saxophone Performance major at Wright State University. I graduated from Clark State in 2020 with my Associate of Science degree and went on and am currently pursuing my bachelor's. I'm very passionate about teaching and playing music and have been playing for a little over 10 years now. I've been teaching private lessons for roughly a year now and was a Saxophone and Clarinet instructor at a few marching bands during their season last Fall 2021. Read More

I've been in the teaching field for the past couple years through small groups and ensembles, as well as one on one private lessons. I've helped both band and choir directors with their ensembles and selected students, mostly marching band camps and OMEA Solo and Ensemble participants. Below I'll list a couple of experiences I had from Marion Harding's middle and high school summer camps: A couple weeks before school begins, the Harding Music Department requires students interested in participating in the middle school band to attend a weeklong music camp where they learn how to start making a sound on their selected instrument. As I mentioned, I like going at the pace of the student in lessons. If we are struggling in an area of playing/singing, then we will focus on that area until we've gotten better at it. Everything in music is related to each other, so I make sure my students understand that while we may be working on, for example, dynamics, that does not mean that anything else we already learned does not apply. I began teaching music while I was in college. Although I was not an education major, I did take education classes and learned a lot about pedagogy during my time in college. I have experience teaching beginning percussion-intermediate percussion on mallet instruments, snare drum, timpani, drum set, and orchestral percussion. I have taught music theory/piano to many students over the years. I have provided many of those students with the skills to set them up to continue learning independently or to seek out learning new instruments. Read More

I want to see you grow as much as possible! That means that we will probably change what we do on a weekly basis to meet you wherever you might be at for that week. I will always push my students to perform at their absolute best while keeping all instruction and interactions supportive. As a teacher, I believe we must always build the student up to be their best, not tear them down. Read More
