For beginner saxophone students, I taught them basic saxohone skills for couple lessons, and I will choose either Rubank method or Jazz Phrasing by Greg Fishman according to students' interests. For beginner flute and clarinet students, I taught them long tones and scales in the beginning, and then I will use method book such as Rubank or Rose to help them enjoy to play these two instruments. For intermediate or higher level saxohpone players, I will design the individual lesson according to student's level, the lesson will combine of technique, chord scale exercise, ear trainning, improvisation, and tune learning. I started lessons at the age of 3 and have been active in music ever since. I was in the band in high school, and the piano ensemble during college. I graduated with High Honors from DePaul University with a BA in Music and have been teaching individual music lesson ever since. The most important philosophical concept about private lessons is this: proceed in a way that will maximize your potential to achieve an excellent goal that you can call your own. Although I am not limited to one method book or another, I typically use Arban's for trumpet lessons - with other books and repertoire along with it. My background is Suzuki violin, followed by music literacy and transposition.
