I love the flute and the piccolo, and sharing my passion with students. I have a doctorate and a masters in flute performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. I have been on the University of Dayton music faculty since 2015, as Flute Instructor and Director of Flute Ensemble. I have a non-traditional background in science, holding a bachelors in physics from Harvard University. My philosophy of teaching is that there is a base of knowledge and skills that a student must possess before a more personal journey in music can occur. While I don't subscribe to any particular method I do believe there is a best order to learning. I began teaching in Mississippi in 2011 to college students at the University of Southern Mississippi. After moving to Cincinnati, I began teaching preschool music. I began developing a preschool curriculum at the University of Cincinnati's Preparatory Program that combined reading, dancing, singing and imagining. After teaching privately for a year, I began my position as Executive Director of the Cincinnati Outreach (COR) Music Project.
