Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. I find that music of any genre is much easier to study if you have an understanding of the framework of what you practice. To that end, I stress technical study that works towards grooming pieces or songs for performance and make sure that my students have a complete understanding of both music and their instrument. I enjoy teaching students of all skill levels and ages, and I employ different approaches depending on the needs and personal goals for each student. I am comfortable in many styles and can help with everything from preparing for honor band auditions, adult beginners desiring to learn a new instrument, jazz improvisation, rock, pop or solo repertoire. My starting point for my students is typically having them practice posture, hand position and proper mouthpiece placement. After this has been satisfied, I have the students blow using a breathing exercise. From this, I have the students play the first three notes out of their Habits of Good Musician Book 1.
