Instruments: Piano, Trombone, Flute, Clarinet, Oboe, Bassoon, Music

For any of my new students I like to begin with getting to know them. This way I can decide on how it would be best for me to teach that specific person. Whether if I should speak to student A more stern or more friendly. Depending on the person I decide on how to go by my lesson of the day. I have learned by personal experience and thanks to my student observing classes that I fully comprehended that not just because a student doesn't grasp the lesson as fast as the rest of the class, it does not mean the student is lazy or anything negative. Instruments: Flute, Piccolo

For beginning students I like to use a combination of Rubank's Elementery etudes and a privately owned beginner's method book although I am willing to teach from a variety of beginning resources. I take into consideration that each student learns differently and some methods may be more successful than others. I like to start introducing solo repertoire as soon as the basics are down. For more advanced students I like to use Lisa Garner Santa's Flute Theory Workout along with advanced solo repetoire and advanced Eubanks etudes. Read More

Instruments: Piano, Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet

In high school I had the great privilege of being selected as the Principal clarinetist in the Minnesota All-State Band. We performed at the summer camp designed for these groups and recreated our performance at Orchestra Hall, home of the Minnesota Orchestra, the following spring. Clarinet is my primary instrument and first love. I also teach saxophone and beginning flute and hope to add other woodwinds in the future. Piano has always been an important influence in my musical performances and I believe it is a gateway to interest in other instruments, so I truly enjoy teaching it! Read More

Instruments: Voice, Saxophone, Flute, Piccolo, Bassoon, Music

I believe that everything begins with fundamentals. That being said, it's most important to learn what the students goal is. Perhaps they only want to learn a particular piece that they are playing for Solo and Ensemble Contest. Perhaps it's an adult student that just wants to learn to play a particular piece for a special occasion. Lessons have to be tailored to to meet the individual students desires. For the students that really want to learn their instrument, I would begin with a methods book with an emphasis on scales and studies. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
